Electronics (version 2.5) is an electronics reference application. It features color coding calculators for resistors and capacitors, and an interactive common discrete semiconductor reference. It also includes information on common connectors, common cables, Palm-specific connectors, Ethernet Rj45 UTP cross cables and others. You can perform conversions between capacitor coding systems, do IEC conversions for resistors (SMD) and capacitors, and perform other miscellaneous calculations. Diagrams are included to make information clear. Excellent documentation is included. This is a great reference guide for electrical engineers or electricians.

555calc is a basic calculator with added square root and cube root functions and nine memories. In addition, 555calc has pre-programmed solutions to the 555 timer I.C. and converts resistor values to resistor color codes and vice versa. Numeral keys five through nine are disabled in this demo.
The Grand Design
EEToolkit is a suite of conversion programs designed for electrical engineers and electronics hobbyists. Ohm calculates resistor values from 4-band or 5-band color codes. Simply select the color codes from the pop-up lists and resistor values are calculated automatically. CAP can be used to convert capacitor IEC markings to a true capacitor value and vice versa. The EEToolkit also includes a Doodle function which acts as a scratchpad for schematic sketches or to jot notes. You can write directly on the Palm screen and bypass the Graffiti writing area. OHM and CAP include reference guides for additional resources. .
PalmElements is an attractive TealInfo folio that
allows you to view details on all of the elements contained in the
Periodic Table of the Elements. To see parameters about a particular
element, tap on the alphabetically-sorted list. The folio then tells you
the element name, symbol, atomic number, atomic weight, oxidation states,
and many other bits of information. This folio would be extremely helpful
for students, engineers, and other people in any fields of science. You
can obtain a free password to activate this folio from www.webelements.com.
TealInfo is a fully-configurable data presentation system for
creating and browsing digital databases, tables, and guides called
"folios". A growing catalogue of TealInfo folios is available,
and you can also create your own.
Portable Solutions
PocketEE is a collection of electronics analysis and design tools. It includes a voltage divider, capacitor code, op amp gain, and resistor color code calculator. The Voltage Divider section gives you all of the possible combinations of standard resistors that yield the desired output voltage within the specified tolerance. The Capacitor Code decodes capacitor markings and gives you the nominal, minimum, and maximum value of a particular code. The Op Amp Gain module solves for the best fit of two resistors in a feedback network for an operational amplifier. It displays all of the possible combinations of standard resistors that yield the desired gain within the specified tolerance. The Resistor Color Code portion gives you the nominal, minimum, and maximum value of a specific resistor color code (formed by the bands at the end of a resistor). It also indicates if the specified color code is an EIA standard value. PocketEE also works the other way - if you give the program a specific nominal value, it will tell you the color code of the resistor. Good online help is included. This program could be very valuable for engineers.

RPN is a leading programmable scientific RPN calculator for the PalmPilot. It offers programmable functions; 10 user variables; base conversion; drag-and-drop interface; number formatting; 40-element circular stack; precision up to 18 digits; scientific, engineering, or fixed display; and much more. RPN is programmed in byte codes, and add-on functions can easily be imported for extra versatility.

Starship is a fun little utility that lets you pretend you're commanding your own starship. You can take the Helm and "engage" or "assume standard orbit". At Tactical you can fire photons and phasors. In Engineering you can even choose to "Eject Core" - although this isn't recommended.

Resist! is an easy-to-use calculator for resistor values. It can decode resistor color bands for four- or five-band components. To use, simply choose the number of band components, then tap the colors of the resistor's bands. Pick-lists make data entry quick and simple. The resistance and tolerance are displayed at the bottom of the screen. Alternately, you can write a numeric value and it will highlight the correct band colors on the pick-lists. Resist! understands both engineering and scientific notations. If the value entered does not exist in the currently selected resistor E series, an X will appear; tap on this button and the closest available value will be automatically selected. You may configure the program to display resistances in either scientific or engineering notation.
